Fingernails and "Worship Music"

Bikes! They're still fantastic.

Fingernails! For the first time in a long time, I have them. I don't know if you've ever not had fingernails, but it's weird once they return. Most of the nails haven't connected to the nail beds, but my thumbs and index fingers look fantastic.

In a small fit of choppy inspiration, I imagined Borillaflax the Fantastic Dragon. Instead of scales, he has streamers. Instead of claws, he has strobe-light fingertips. Instead of fire breath, he has confetti breath. I'm not yet much of an illustrator, but it evokes some crazy imagery in my mind.

Speaking thereof, "Short Skirt Long Jacket" by Cake has great imagery: "I want a girl with shoes that cut and eyes that burn like cigarettes... With fingernails that shine like justice and a voice that is dark like tinted glass."

Yesterday, a friend humored me as I ranted through my undying hatred for "Christian"/"Worship"/"Praise" music and the Christiany Chords. Don't get me started.
To make a long story short, it seems that writers of music or lyrics do not commit themselves to the hard work of creating something of high quality—especially writers in the "Christian" realm. I put heavy emphasis on the quotation marks because Christian music isn't a thing—unless you're merely describing music created by Christians.

Though I have infinite complaints, one ranting statement offered a striking realization:
Let us pretend that "Worship Music" really is a thing. This means that anything outside of "Worship Music" isn't worshipful. At best, this would require us to reconsider all our musical efforts soberly. More than likely, though, it could imply that the definition for this kind of "worship" is erroneous and lazy.

Skipping some rhetoric, kids who shriek their atonal hearts out for the Lord are more worshipful than "Worship Music." Conversely, a musician who has lazily replicated familiar sounds of "Worship Music"—but could in all reality craft much better songs—has not been worshipful.

That's my hypothesis anyway. Not today, but I might have to write a paper on it sometime.

Too many thoughts.

Via some advice I read, I'm off to write a brief outline of what I hope to write for Meadowvale today.

Bing bang boom.
