Mighty Men and Devils

We also have the prophetic message …, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. (2 Peter 1:19)
Sometimes, Scripture is kinda dry and historical: "He did this. This guy did that. They attacked each other. They claimed this much cattle. He begat children. They begat more children."

Sometimes, it's epic: "Until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts."

I love David's mighty men. They are some of the craziest badasses. One of my favorite events is when David is locked outside of Bethlehem and gets thirsty:
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then at Bethlehem. And David said longingly, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!” Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and carried and brought it to David. (2 Samuel 23:14-16)
Three guys were like, "Hey, our leader wants a beverage from his hometown. We should probably break through the enemy's camp to get him a drink."

Bing bang boom.

Crazy stuff, man. Crazy stuff.

In other news, the devil works hard — harder than any of us louts. If you have ever read the Screwtape Letters, you will get an imaginative glimpse into the diligent work of demons: the subtle suggestions, the illusion, the misdirections. I cannot imagine any common man who has been so diligent and so thorough in any of his endeavors.

In other other news, piracy is not a victimless crime. I was going to say I should be a pirate, but that seemed sketchy. So yeah.

In other^3 news, I have to go write other things — or at least stare at a screen until I get aggravated enough with the blank page.

Swoop-de-doo.
