Creative Writing!

Well, I just cleaned up my blog. It didn't have nearly as much misery as I feared, but those entries still needed to go. Now, all that I have left is pleasant rambling with a healthy dash of arrogance.

I think it's time to eat again. I always want to eat, but my tummy recommends against it. There are so many tasty things so close — so close and so far.

I don't feel like writing, but I just spruced up my blog, so it seemed inevitable.

Werbel is doing swimmingly, although he's taken a bit of a break this past week or so. I still haven't written about The 5 Love Languages with much focus yet, but it really was a good book. Stop talking about it until you've read it, please.

Nutella: it calls to me. Maybe celery and peanut-butter. Maybe I'll have an early dinner.

I started teaching two, small summer classes today. They were pleasantly uneventful. I'll be glad of the wage, but I'm not looking forward to SAT Prep – ever.
I am looking forward to Creative Writing!, but an SAT student infiltrated that class, so the joy was diffused. Tomorrow, I'm not sure what I'll be doing.
It's amazing how long an hour can seem sometimes. It's amazing how brief an hour can seem sometimes.

Since the last time I mentioned it, I have deleted and reinstalled my iPhone games maybe five times or more. They are currently deleted, but I built some bad habits, so I haven't properly developed the skill of using time well.

Why are naps always so compelling?

I'm developing a plan for Creative Writing. Each class is 1.25 hours (75 minutes).
For the first five minutes, I want them to do the brain drain exercise: write absolutely whatever pops into their minds. That's an easy enough activity to require every single day, but I'm not sure what activity should come next that could be repeated.

0-10: Brain Drain (10:40)
10-15: directions for 1st activity (10:45)
15-30: 1st activity (interactive/silly) (11:00)
30-35: sharing 1st activity (11:05)
35-40: directions for 2nd activity (11:10)
40-60: 2nd activity (quiet/reflective) (11:30)
60-70: sharing 2nd activity (11:40)
70-75: Wrap Up (11:45)

I believe that's it!
Tomorrow's 1st activity will be like pictionary whisper-down-the-lane. I'll give the students the option of drawing pictures, writing, folding, drawing, folding, writing, folding, etc. OR writing, writing, folding, writing, etc. If you've played the game, you should get the idea. If not, e-mail me or something.
I'm not yet sure about the second activity, but I know that I want Fridays to be more interesting – like go outside and have some small writing adventure or who knows what. I'll figure it out, but I'm quite pleased with the above general format.

I'm totally open to suggestions for fun writing exercises.
