Believing is Seeing

First things first: I got a new personal email address.

ZadokNauthiz@gmail.com served well, but it started to feel juvenile.

This was striking, however: As I was transferring everything from ZadokNauthiz to my new email address, I noticed so many transitions taking place in my life. It was like I was shedding an old identity and stepping into something deeper, something truer.

There are still a few things I have to switch over to my new email address, but all the important things are completed: photos, documents, calendar, and blog.

More to come as this newer, truer identity unfolds.

In other news, believing really is seeing. The phrase "I'll believe it when I see it" ran through my mind this morning, but then I thought about the human obsession with signs and wonders (whereafter we still refuse to believe).

Somehow, I thought of the stars: constellations etc.
Years ago, I loved the stars; I memorized most of the constellations and could identify them.
Now, I can only find The Big Dipper.
Years ago, I would look into the sky and see familiar forms: Orion, Draco, Ursa Major, and their compatriots.
Now, when I look in the sky, I see a jumble of bright dots.

Back when I believed that the constellations were there, I could see them.
Now that I've forgotten who they are, the sky is just a blur.

  1. I see so much of the Lord in the stars. There are those cloudy evenings when, at first, I cannot see a single star. All that changes when I focus and then, as if by magic, they can easily be made out hiding behind the clouds.
The other night I was on the beach and I could not find one star. I knew it was OK because I was confident that they were still all there. Last night, low and behold, they could easily be seen.
How much is the Lord like the stars. Some times we just have to confidently focus and all of a sudden we discover He was there all along. We can't always clearly identify Him in our circumstances but we allow this truth to keep us going.
