Silence and Meadowvale
Holy moly bajoley.
I'm feeling distracted today—mostly my own fault. Plus, I haven't written for Meadowvale in so long! Like over a week! That's appalling!
I started an interesting sketch last week though about Michael the abbey boy. It started off with interdimensional travel, dark creatures, and a sword. It transformed into a young boy doing chores all day at an abbey. I have no idea what I'm doing with it, but I like writing. Meadowvale is getting tough, but I probably only feel that way because I haven't written anything for it recently. It feels far away. Things are typically easy to continue once they've started and hard to start up again once they've sat too long.
Someday, I want sound suppressors. Instead of earphones or headphones, I want sound suppressors: tiny machines that create clean, complete, beautiful silence. Hopefully, these will come soon after autocars. I hope autocars come soon too, but I imagine these might be delayed by all the people making money. I am very much quite surprised that solar-powered electric cars are not in full production. You know they've thought of it. You can almost assume they made a prototype. The problem with that would be nobody would get money to fuel your car.
I read of a man who went completely off-grid: solar power for electricity, a small farm for food, and other natural ways of supplying his basic needs. Reportedly, his property was confiscated. Obviously, there may have been other factors at play, but I truly can imagine a scenario in which somebody's not getting their cut, so they enact "law" to "regulate" a man's livelihood.
I may have to start working at the library. I would miss endless Starbucks beverages, but I wouldn't miss the endless distracting sounds. Although, Starbucks has this big windows and some nice flora just outside. The library has small windows that only show streets and buildings outside.
I need to write so that I can keep writing. I could write a sequel for Meadowvale. I imagine that, once I had gotten a good way into the second, I could easily envision a third. I still need to see where Werbel takes me. It's funny: the working title for my book used to be "Werbel" like he was so very important. He hasn't lost any importance by any means, but they all have gained so much importance: Jeremy, Werbel, Allison, Rrraktotrrraka, Skoar, Alabaster, and so many more. Even Meadowvale seems to dim in comparison to the many villages that are joining them now. Perhaps that is their noteworthy deed: they are being joined; they are not doing the joining.
Regardless, I must be getting back to them now.

p.s. I think sound suppressors exist. (noise canceling headphones)...I've thought about this also for writing. (They most certainly exist) some kids in grades school had to wear the grotesque accouterments during exams...Red and Black, they were always red and black. People live off the Grid in "truth & Consequences" in Arizona, as well as other "off the grid--establishments, if they can be considered off the grid.
ReplyDeleteI know of noise-canceling headphones. I was hoping for something magical or sci-fi though: not just dulled noise but pure silence.
DeleteI'm glad to hear that some communities are living that way. I hope, with all our technology, we can move more and more into different methods of sustainable living.
