Orion's Belt

I can never write enough! Seriously. Even when I don't want to write, it's only because I don't want to write for Michael or Meadowvale, but I feel guilty about trying to excuse anything else.

It was charming: I was having lunch with my old boss yesterday. He was telling me about his business, his family, a book he's reading, etc. I got to tell him about my little business, my extracurricular activities, and some of my stories (especially my elemental series!).
He exclaimed, "You're so creative. You have more creativity in your little finger than I have in my whole body." It was very kind of him to say that.

I don't know why I am that way. I grew up on books: fiction and nonfiction. That's not too uncommon. Still, I've never been quite content to the leave the world as it is. I've always needed to stretch it a bit further, a bit deeper, a bit more magical.

Also, I don't think the world is small at all. Admittedly, it annoys me when a person from Pennsylvania says, "it's a small world," just because they met someone else in Pennsylvania. It's a small state perhaps, but the world is bloody huge. Even then, I'm not just talking about surface area; I'm talking about the deep hearts residing in each person—even the person you see at the gas station or the coffee shop or at your job. There are so many thoughts, feelings, hopes, and fears wrapped up inside each of these epidermises.

Do you remember Men in Black? The first one? Do you remember "the galaxy is on Orion's belt"?
Orion was the cat:

The movie revolved around securing the literal galaxy that was contained in the locket on the cat's collar.

Humans are like that. On the outside, we look like fancy, little baubles. Inside, we contain the image of God, the residue of infinitude that blurs the line between temporal and eternal.

Maybe the world is small like Orion's collar, but its contents are vast, and the contents of its contents are vast. We are vast creatures. You and I are vast creatures.

You and I are galaxial creatures, brimming with chaos and light, black holes and stars.
