A New Library

I am visiting a new library, and it is much quieter and cozier than the Southampton library. There is an older gentleman at a table to my left who is working on a 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle. He grabs a handful of pieces every so often to plop them on his table as he sorts them into categories. It feels a bit chilly. It seems unusual how often places are refrigerated — as opposed to air-conditioned.

Air conditioning, I would think, would be to moderate the natural temperature, not crush it completely. A warm day is made cool, a hot day is made mild, or a sweltering day is made merely warm. Instead, all summer days are refrigerated. It's just a curious phenomenon.

I would still like to find a place I can go and work in complete silence. There's some, long conversation going on at one of the front desks between two or three people. I don't know if I'm just crazy in my brain or if there really are few silent places in life. Someday, I'll have maximum silence.

I don't know how much you write, but have you ever sensed your different writing modes/moods? Sometimes, I feel frantic, and my words feel frantic. Sometimes, I'm mellow, and my words meander. Sometimes, I'm focused, and my words are crisp. I wonder how much of that is perceived by readers.

You should definitely be writing. I recommend it for everyone. It has too many health factors, and you only need to do a little bit every day. A blog, a journal, a scrap of paper: it doesn't much matter where.

The real question is why aren't you writing?

  1. I journaled tonight, matter of fact, and it felt really great!

    1. Oh, that's wonderful! Do you have a public journal/blog, or do you share any of your writings ever?
