Androids and Noises
I haven't been very productive today. Granted, I distracted myself with a lot of trivial things. However, it's also hard to concentrate in a lightly refrigerated room. I am now sitting on the side porch, and I love staring out into our thin woods. It doesn't matter the setting in whatever I'm writing; outside is always better.
Meadowvale is about to be real. By "about to," I mean like in two years, but I see it forming into a living being. Have you ever seen a sci-fi movie or show in which they're creating a human (or human-like android)? It typically starts off with a skeleton: fusing together bone and cartilage. Then, they insert the organs and/or weave on the muscle fibers: a meaty mess of strings and things.
That's how Meadowvale is at the moment: a mess of plot strings and characters slowly binding together to form a sensible whole. It's a compelling creature.
The movies/shows end with some fictional method of forcing the human to grow skin rapidly; sometimes, they coat it with some artificial polymer. Boom, you have a human(oid). I don't see the detailed features just yet, but I can envision Meadowvale walking about.
I still have plenty to write though. Baby steps.
In any case, outside is so good. I don't know if it's just my brain, but there are certain noises (even loud noises) that don't distract me when I'm working: lawnmowers, airplanes, chainsaws, cars driving by, bird calls, hammering. At the same time, there are certain noises (even quiet noises) that drive me insane: phone conversations, the neighbor's music that rattles across the yard. Those are the two big ones that come to mind. No idea what the proper difference is—if there is one at all.
